Bird in a Cage is a charitable company designed to help raise awareness around the massive issue of human trafficking.
With millions of people enslaved in either sexual or labour slavery we are in the midst of the worst slavery epidemic in our world's history.
Birds are a symbol of freedom. They were created to soar above this world, their little bodies fragile but their wings powerful. Humankind invented cages to trap and keep these beautiful creatures for the pleasure of their owners but the one thing that cannot not be confined is a bird's voice. My heart goes out to all the unheard voices from caged women and children across our world and Bird in a Cage is here to represent their voices in asking for help.
the Mission
To raise awareness and funds for the fight against human trafficking, and to help others find their voice in standing up for this important issue. As well as telling the stories of men, women and children who have found freedom, we will talk about freedom as a spiritual and mental concept to help people find their own breakthroughs in life.
who is behind it?
Hi, I'm Angela Crocker. I'm a wife, a mother and a pastor. I'm passionate about people being free from the chains that hold them back in life and I believe freedom is a right for all people. God created us free, we created chains, and we've used them ever since to bend the world and it's people to our will.
I had my eyes opened to the blight of human trafficking firstly at a Hillsong Colour Conference when I heard about Christine Cain's work creating the A21 campaign. And then further when I met with representatives from Hagar back in July 2013. After hearing about their recovery houses and the stories of woman and children that had been so terribly abused and scarred through sexual slavery but had found freedom and a future with Hagar, I resolved to make a difference in whatever way I could, supporting this vital work. As I left that meeting, the words "Now that I've opened your eyes to this, you'll never be able to close them" resounded in my head. That small, still voice was right.
Albert Einstein once said "The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil but by those who watch them without doing anything". I've chosen not to be one of those people. Join me!
